The wait is finally over. Dragon Quest IV and Dragon Warrior IV have trained and trained and are now ready to battle!
This marks the end of the original NES / Famicom Dragon Warrior Saga. After this translation Dragon Quest remained in Japan exclusively until the release of Dragon Warrior Monsters years later
The final translation seems to be the least dramatic as only a few things were changed and many of the changes began in other installments.
Hey, we've waited for years for this moment! How did you two get to announce the fight!?
People underestimate the merchant class.... we have our ways.
I was hired to protect Taloon from you two...
Anyway, we're helping! When you insert Dragon Warrior IV, some copyright info is shown and the Enix logo was assembled , finally showing the title screen.
True, but in the Dragon Quest version the creators names are shown instead of the copyright info and instead of the Enix Logo, a large 'IV' flashes on screen for a while, finally leading to the title screen.
They changed all the text and table sizes, that's got to be alot of work. I can see why they stopped that in later translations...
Your'e here too? Sheesh! Besides, we already mentioned that in the last round!
When a new chapter starts, the DQ version displays a picture. I wonder how much that cost?
What did I do to deserve working with you?
Character names were changed when translated but when comparing the names, one can easily understand why... They did this for all the Dragon Quest games...
Burai? Sounds like a name for a horse.
Hey!
I never understood why they changed the cross for the star in a highly Christian country...
"Loosing my religion... trying to keep a view..."
Stick to dancing...
What in Master Dragon's name is this idiot gear the North American guys were wearing!?...
The Japanese culture hadn't infiltrated the North American culture yet. Anime just wasn't huge so the artwork was 'translated' for North Americans.
I think I'm gonna be sick...
They "Translated" us into white...
"I'm too sexy for Milan, New York and Japan..."
There was really few changes compared to the others, although other changes such as the caskets and church remained throughout the NES series
This marked the end of heavy translation changes. When Enix would return with DW Monsters & DW VII the changes would be minor cultural changes.
And there was much rejoycing...
The victory goes to Dragon Warrior IV because they removed the romantic sub-text between Cristo and I
Thanks alot....
